The Book of Deuteronomy - Chapter 27

This is the 3rd main division of The Book of Deuteronomy.  This section covers Chapters 27 through 30.  This may be the most critical section in the Book.  Before we venture into this section, it would be good to talk a bit about the word "covenant", and just what that means.  A covenant in a contract between two parties.  In the Hebrew, the word for covenant is 'berith'.  It is derived from a word that means "to cut", which is in reference to cutting or dividing of animals into two parts, and the contracting parties passing between them in making a covenant....."cutting a covenant".
