In Chapters 5 through 7 of The Book of Deuteronomy, we enter into the second speech of Moses to the people of Israel.  Chapter 5 is a restatement of the Law - The Ten Commandments - but the emphasis is still on the love of God, and the love and obedience of the people to God.  The generation that had originally received the Law, as it was given at Mt. Sinai (Exodus 20), is now dead.  This new generation, the nation of Israel that is going to be entering the Promised Land, needs to have the Law repeated and interpreted for them, and Moses is going to give them an interpretation in relation to the forty years spent in the wilderness.
