The Book of Isaiah - Chapters 40 through 42
Chapter 40 of The Book of Isaiah begins the final major division of the Book. There is a sharp contrast between the first section, Chapters 1-35, and the final section, Chapters 40-66.
- The first section was a revelation of the Sovereign God who sits in judgment upon the throne;
- The last section is a revelation of the Savior God in the place of suffering for His people
Chapters 40 through 66 are often called the "New Testament" section of The Book of Isaiah. It has 27 chapters, similar to the 27 books of the New Testament, and its emphasis is on Jesus Christ, The Messiah, the Savior, and upon salvation.
