The Good News of the New Testament is the Gospel.  The good news also is that Jesus is always watching...but, the bad news is, Jesus is always watching!  Sometimes good news is just as hard to hear as bad news.  If someone comes to your door says "You've just won the Publisher's Clearinghouse ten million dollar prize", your first thought might be "Yah, right!".  But, if someone comes to your door and says "I'm from the IRS and you are being audited", you'd begin to panic and go over your tax returns in your mind.  We have a built-in tendency against good news, and towards the bad.  It's a survival mechanism.
