Does Jesus ever say things that seem confusing or even contradictory?  Jesus said, in John 6, "Eat My flesh".  He then asked "Do these words offend you?"  Was Jesus promoting canabilism?  Of course not!  The people heard the words on the surface, but didn't realize what they meant in terms of Jesus giving His body as a sacrifice, and then us becoming a part of it.  Luke Chapter 16 is one of those places where Jesus can be misunderstood.  We don't understand at first because we are looking at things from a wrong perspective.
