The Gospel of Mark - Chapter 14

Chapter 14 is the longest chapter in the Gospel of Mark - 72 verses.  Mark is a Gospel of action....but the action is no longer performed by Jesus.  In this chapter, he is being acted upon by others - both friends and enemies.  Today, in this Chapter, we see some of the worst of humanity:

  • Plotting of murder
  • Deception
  • Lying
  • Greed, and
  • Betrayal

But we also see the relationship between God and man redefined in a way that is both beautiful and moving, and symbolism becomes reality as Jesus decrees a new relationship - a new agreement or covenant - that wipes away sin and welcomes man into fellowship with God again.
