The Gospel of Mark is, chronologically, the first Gospel that was written.  It was also one of the first books of the New Testament.  It was probably written in 63 A.D., or maybe in early 64 A. D.  The Gospel of Mark is actually Peter's Gospel, written by Mark.   It was written from Rome, at a time when severe persectuions were breaking out in Rome, and may eye-witnesses to Jesus were being executed.  So, writing down what Jesus said and did became very important.
